Lewis Carroll Academy is unique in that it offers voice classes
for students interested in pursuing their singing seriously. Three
classes a week are offered, taught by Steven Horwich. Each class
has between four to seven students. In these classes, students work
on vocal strength and endurance, range, and basic technique to guarantee
their voices develop and remain healthy. They also develop three
to five songs a year, performing these at lunch concerts in front
of the student body and staff, and anyone else who wants to come.
This provides the students yet another opportunity to get some performance
experience.
Mr. Horwich
has taught private voice and vocal workshops for over 25 years.
He is himself an accomplished accompanist and singer, with an encyclopedic
knowledge of music and the modern repertory for singers, particularly
in the area of musical theatre.
Younger students
take weekly singing classes with Mr. Tom Fair, whose experience
teaching music to young children in schools throughout Southern
California exceeds twenty years. These classes also perform as a
part of several yearly presentations.
At Lewis Carroll
Academy, we believe that EVERYONE can sing, and everyone can sing
better.
